Submitting your web site to Search Engines

You have optimized your website. What next?

Submit your website to the major search engines to let the search engines know your page exist.

There are 1000's of search engines but let's review about the methods to submit to three major search engines.

Google
Yahoo!
Bing(previously known as Live & MSN)

Submitting to Google

Use the URL - http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl to submit your website to Google. The instructions given on the page is self-explanatory.

After submitting your website, check whether your site is showing up in Google after a month. Resubmit after 30-45 days if you don't find your website in Google.

Submitting to Yahoo

Yahoo offers two types of listings

Free Listing - Use the URL - http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html to submit your site. Resubmit after 60 days if you don't find your website in Google.

Paid Listing - This helps you to list your website quickly but you will end up paying each time if somebody clicks on your listings.

Submitting to Bing

Use the URL - http://www.bing.com/docs/submit.aspx to submit to Bing.

There are lots of automated services to speed up your submissions but it is worth submitting manually because the search engines reject automated submissions thinking that to be a spam listing.
